Let me show you where the set actually stands today and how it moved from Café Huber into the former Café Stumpp.
Café Hagen as a Filming Location
In the ZDF series Frühling, Café Hagen is so much more than just a café. It is a meeting spot, a stage, and the heart of the village all at once. It is the place where news makes the rounds, where relationships come into view, and where countless scenes both big and small get their start.
What a lot of fans don't realize is that Café Hagen doesn't actually exist in this form. It's a film set used specifically for the series. And over the years, the filming location has even changed.
Since Episode 20, Café Hagen has been housed in the former Café Stumpp in Bayrischzell. The production company SevenDogsFilm is the permanent tenant there, which means they can use the location for filming anytime, completely independent of normal café operations.

From Café Huber to Café Stumpp
Café Hagen is one of the most fascinating Frühling filming locations, because behind it lies not just a film set but a genuine change of address.
When Café Hagen was first introduced in the series, Café Huber in the town center of Bayrischzell served as the location. Filming meant the regular business had to shut down again and again, which was hardly an ideal arrangement in the long run.
After Café Stumpp closed, the production seized the opportunity and moved the set. SevenDogsFilm leased the space on a permanent basis and set up the new Café Hagen there. Much of the old café's furnishings stayed in place in the process.
Today the former Café Stumpp is firmly established as a filming location for Frühling. The building is easy to spot from the outside, and with a little series knowledge you immediately see why this spot works so well as the village café.
More Than Just a Café Set
Right next to Café Hagen there's a small production office, used mainly for props needed outdoors. Among other things, it stores signs, license plates, and other pieces called for in scenes shot around town.
Details like these are exactly what show how professionally and permanently the location has been woven into the production. So Café Hagen isn't just a pretty façade, it's part of a fully functioning series infrastructure right in the middle of Bayrischzell. In the series, the café is above all Heidrun Niedermayer's place. If you know her story, you'll see the location in a whole new light.
The former Café Stumpp sits right in the town center of Bayrischzell and fits easily into a stroll through the village. Just a few steps away you'll also find the Klosterhof zur Post, another important filming location. Anyone who wants to get to know all the characters from the series will find the background there. For more information, stop by the Bayrischzell tourist office or check out the official map for the film walk.
