Hi, I'm Michael. Treffpunkt Bayrischzell is a project close to my heart, but it all started somewhere completely different, back in 1997. I had just bought my first computer and couldn't wait to get online. I had no real idea how any of it worked back then, but I wanted to explore the big wide world. News from other countries fascinated me most of all, the different perspectives, the different points of view.
The USA fascinated me the most back then. That turned into countless trips and longer stays with English-speaking relatives. At first I traveled in small international groups with Suntrek, but before long I was crossing the country more and more on my own.
All those trips grew into my USA travel guide, which earned good reviews everywhere, at least for a guide put together by one person. After that came a travel forum about traveling in the USA and moving there, which I ran for 24 years.
The internet keeps changing, so these sites no longer exist in the form they once had. But the travel guide lives on: over at amerika-tipps.de it has come back to life, packed with all the tips from 24 years of the forum.
Since I don't make it to the USA as often as I used to, I shifted my energy back home. It started out as Bayrischzell TV, which later grew into Treffpunkt Bayrischzell. Bayrischzell TV is gone now, but Treffpunkt lives on and shows what happens every day right on our own doorstep.
Where I Stand
Not a Tourism Channel, Not an Influencer Project
Treffpunkt Bayrischzell is a personal, editorial project: honest, local, and authentic. I show the region between the Wendelstein and Sudelfeld the way I experience it myself. No glossy filters, no client pulling the strings. What goes up here and what gets posted, I decide myself.
The Formats
What the Idea Grew Into
That single idea grew into many formats: this website with editorial pieces on the ZDF series Frühling, its filming locations and characters, plus my own recommendations for places to stay and eat in the village, a walking tour through Bayrischzell, a podcast of my own, and regular live walks that thousands of people join virtually.
By now Treffpunkt Bayrischzell is one of the most far-reaching independent channels for the region, on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, and through the website itself.
By the Numbers
More Than Seven Million Views a Year
On Instagram alone, Treffpunkt Bayrischzell pulls in more than 5.5 million views a year, with another 1.7 million on Facebook. Together with the other channels, that adds up to more than seven million views a year across seven channels.
Working Together
Interested in a Partnership?
I work with a small number of regional partners: personally, without any fuss, and with a real connection to the area. Not mass marketing, but visibility that fits the place. This past winter, that led to my first partnership with the Sudelfeld ski area.
