When does Season 16 of Frühling air?
As of June 2026, ZDF hasn't announced an air date for Season 16 yet. But filming in Bayrischzell has been underway since late April, so it's clear the show is going on. An early 2027 premiere is a realistic bet.
A bit of background: Season 15 ended on a cliffhanger. Ava is in a coma, Arthur's secret still isn't out, and where things go after Father Sonnleitner's open confession to Heidrun is still up in the air. But if they're already filming again, that's the best news fans could hope for right now.
When and where do they film in Bayrischzell? Can you watch?
Filming for Season 16 is in full swing. You're welcome to watch at the dates the production officially announces, and often, though not always, an actor will take a moment for a quick selfie. Still, please keep your distance. People are working here. Follow the crew's instructions, don't crowd in too close, and don't get in the way of the shoot.
If you'd rather see the filming locations without a shoot going on, the Bayrischzell tourist office offers a free Frühling film walk, a great way to get to know the main spots around the village. You'll also find most of the locations on our filming locations page.
Does the village of Frühling really exist?
No. Frühling is a fictional place. The main backdrop is Bayrischzell, and that's no accident. The village doesn't just look good on camera, it's also the right size. A lot of the buildings you know from the show really are here: Café Hagen, the parsonage, the village-helpers' office. And you'll be surprised how small Bayrischzell actually is: most of the locations in the village are only a few minutes' walk apart.
Where is Katja Baumann's house?
This is the question I hear most. Katja's house isn't in Bayrischzell, it's near Parsberg, close to Miesbach. A public hiking trail runs right past the house, and you're allowed to take pictures from there and from public roads.
Important: the house is a private home. Neither we nor the tourist office will give out the exact address, and for good reason. Please respect the owners' privacy. Don't shoot through the windows, don't go onto the property. If you want to see the house from the outside, you can do that from the trail, and that's plenty.
Where's the hospital from the show?
Especially after the Season 15 finale, a lot of fans are hunting for it. The hospital isn't in Bayrischzell. It's filmed at the St. Irmingard Clinic in Prien am Chiemsee.
Where is the Carpe Diem?
A lot of fans look for the Carpe Diem from the show in the center of Bayrischzell, but it isn't there. It's filmed at the Schwaigeralm in Fischbachau, a good 15 minutes from Bayrischzell by car. I'd recommend a visit, by the way, series connection or not.
Who plays Stella Lamprecht?
Stella is played by Katharina Weitzendorf. The character has been part of the show since Season 12 and has been sparking conversation ever since, especially because of the bullying storyline that moved a lot of viewers. Stella isn't a loud character. She's the kind where a single look says more than any line of dialogue.

Is Heidrun Niedermayer leaving the show?
After the Season 15 finale, with Heidrun in a coma, a lot of fans have been wondering exactly that. Understandably. What I can tell you: in my interview, actress Catalina Navarro Kirner hinted that her character will go through some heavy blows, but I don't think it'll be a permanent exit.

What fans want to know most
Are there more shooting days after July 2026 this year? Or maybe some 2027 dates already?

About the shooting dates: there are still a few filming days left this year after July. As things stand at the tourist office, these are the August dates (no guarantees, since something can always shift on short notice during a shoot):
Aug 12 Edeka, Aug 18 to 20 village-helpers' office, Aug 24 to 28 Haus Zerbes and the parsonage, Aug 31 village-helpers' office and parsonage.
For 2027 there are no confirmed shooting dates yet. The current season is expected to air in early 2027, and from experience, filming then usually starts up again in spring. But understandably there are no fixed dates for 2027 yet.
If you'd like to build a shooting day into your visit: watching is allowed at the officially announced dates, as long as you keep your distance, follow the crew's instructions, and don't disrupt the shoot. Sometimes the actors take a moment for a selfie too, but that's never guaranteed.

Yes, and it's even been announced publicly. Next week, on June 10 and 11, assuming nothing changes, there'll be filming at the village-helpers' office. A good chance to see Simone in person. Whether the actors will take time for selfies, though, I can't say. It often comes down to how much time pressure the production and the actors are under at that moment.

We're coming to Bayrischzell on vacation in July, are there any shooting dates set for then yet?
No, as of today, June 2, there are no dates set for July yet. My guess is they'll be announced on short notice. This season they're filming in three blocks instead of the usual two. Three blocks because this season we have three different directors instead of the usual two per season.
